About BoatCast

BoatCast is a small software product for recreational boaters who want a clear Good / Fair / Poor call instead of decoding a full chartplotter-style weather suite before a weekend on the water. Search or tap a map pin, see air and water metrics with a boating-focused rating, and read why the day is Good, Fair, or Poor — wind, waves, visibility, weather, and storm timing in one place.

It is built by a Florida-based recreational boater who spent too many Fridays piecing together wind, chop, thunderstorm timing, and fog from three apps and a screenshot of a marine text product. The product goal is practical: less guesswork on whether conditions look workable for a typical trailer boat, bay boat, or small cabin cruiser — not a claim that every cove will match the pin.

Who it is for

Weekend and after-work boaters on lakes, bays, and nearshore coastal water — people who already handle maintenance, trailering, gear, and float plans, and just need a faster conditions answer.

It is not aimed at commercial mariners, offshore passagemakers, or anyone who needs official marine routing products as their primary tool. If you already live in GRIB files and NWS text, BoatCast is a convenience layer, not a replacement for your workflow.

What BoatCast does

• Search or map-pick a location and load a recreational forecast
• Show air and water metrics with a boating-focused Good / Fair / Poor rating and plain-language reasons
• Surface thunderstorm / heavy rain caution and official NWS alerts when available near the pin
• Explain scoring on How BoatCast works so the rating is not a black box
• Offer BoatCast Pro for the rest of the 3-day forecast, favorites, boat-size rating thresholds, and Location Weather Monitoring

What it deliberately does not do

• Navigation, routing, or chartplotter replacement
• Official marine forecasts or emergency alerting
• Guaranteed accuracy for every cove, pass, or river mouth

The website and the iOS / Android apps share the same free forecast: today's outlook and the next few hours, no account required.
