Terms of Use

By using Boatcast (the website, mobile app, and related services), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

• Boatcast provides marine, lake, and weather information for personal, non-commercial use unless we agree otherwise in writing.
• You are responsible for how you use the information. Conditions on the water can change quickly; always use your own judgment and official sources when planning trips.
• You must provide accurate account information, keep your password secure, and not share access in a way that violates these terms or applicable law.
• We may update, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
• Boatcast and its data providers are not liable for decisions, injuries, losses, or damages arising from use of (or inability to use) the service, to the fullest extent allowed by law.

Privacy

We collect only what we need to run Boatcast accounts, subscriptions, and forecasts.

• Account data: email, password hash, optional name, and subscription status.
• Billing: payments are processed by Stripe. We store Stripe customer/subscription ids; card details are handled by Stripe, not stored on Boatcast servers.
• Usage: location searches and map selections you make to fetch weather. We do not sell personal information.
• Third parties: weather and geocoding come from providers such as Open-Meteo and OpenStreetMap Nominatim. Analytics or ads (if enabled) may process limited device/usage data under their own policies.
• You can request account deletion or ask privacy questions by emailing boatcastapp@gmail.com.

Forecast disclaimer

Boatcast ratings (Good / Fair / Poor) and displayed metrics are estimates based on third-party forecast models and automated rules. They are not official marine warnings, navigation advice, or a substitute for NOAA/NWS, Coast Guard, or local notices.

Wave, wind, and weather data can be incomplete or incorrect. Lake chop and inland water-temperature estimates are modeled from wind and air conditions and may not match on-water measurements. Always check official forecasts and local conditions before going out.

Subscriptions & billing

• Boatcast Pro is a paid subscription billed through Stripe (or shown as demo Pro in environments without Stripe keys).
• You can manage or cancel billing in Account → Manage billing (Stripe Customer Portal), subject to Stripe and plan terms. Cancellation typically remains active through the end of the paid period unless otherwise stated at checkout.
• Free accounts may see ads or limited forecast depth. Boatcast Pro includes an ad-free experience, the full 3-day forecast, and synced favorite locations across web and mobile. Pro features are described in the app and may change over time.
